KENDRA SMITH

I was born and raised in Mt. Hope, where I grew up on my family dairy farm. I graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University in 2010 with a Degree in Kinesiology, and became a certified Kinesiologist. I continued my education at Ontario College of Health and Technology, earning my Diploma in Massage Therapy in 2012. I currently hold designations as a Registered Massage Therapist and a Registered Kinesiologist. I have gained a wide base of knowledge and training in relaxation treatments and rehabilitation therapies, but my passion is understanding the body's response to injury and the healing process.

REHABILITATION FOCUS

I pride myself on my knowledge of the assessment and treatment of physical injuries. Whether you are a weekend warrior or a professional, I understand the needs of both the amateur and professional athlete. I will work with you and your schedule to aid in your recovery from competition, injury and/or physical fatigue.

In addition, I provide treatment for day to day injuries, stress reduction and overuse conditions. The ability to be free of pain and muscular restrictions is important for everyday function and productivity.

Your rehabilitation and maintenance program will consist of: regular assessments to chart your body’s progressions, as well as hands-on therapeutic techniques and a progressive exercise program (if required). All of the components in your program will be customized to your goals, but will ultimately aid in the healing process of the injured body, assist in optimal performance, and help maintain a healthy, properly functioning body.

What Massage Can Do for You...

Improve muscle function and performance through the manipulation of soft tissue and myofacial release, which includes working with muscles, fascia, skin and joints.

Massage therapy is complimented with specific exercises designed to decrease pain and dysfunction related to a work or sport injury.

It relieves muscle tension and pain, increases flexibility and mobility and helps relieve lactic acid build up which increases pain and stiffness in muscles and joints.

Research also shows that massage can:

• Decrease pain & stiffness from

arthritis

• Reduce pain & anxiety

• Help alleviate & minimize

headaches

• Relieve Back Pain

• Assist with Posture Correction

• Improve weight gain in preterm

infants
